Giving YOU a voice!
For many survivors of abuse in gymnastics, speaking out can come only after years of silence, shaped by the coercive culture within the gym, fear of the consequences of speaking up, or being dismissed, disbelieved or even gaslit when concerns are raised with organisations.
That silence can continue even after families leave. We know of many parents who have received telephone calls from governing bodies asking them to remove social media posts, even when neither a gym nor a coach was named. Whatever the intention, interventions of this kind can reinforce the fear that speaking publicly about their experiences is itself unacceptable.
Giving survivors a voice means creating a space where their experiences can finally be heard, taken seriously and understood in context.
This is that space. Here you can read the testimonies of gymnasts, parents, coaches and others who have experienced or witnessed what happens within gymnastics. Their voices matter, and their experiences can help us understand what needs to change.
If you have a story you want to tell and would like to be heard, we welcome your testimony. Please contact us to find out how you can share your experience.
